Aramid tapes

Aramid tapes for localised areas of composite parts. The catalogue includes woven, unidirectional and braided tapes, with products described for hull-to-deck joints in recreational craft.

What to consider when choosing

Aramid in tape form

For work on kayaks or boards, check the stated application for the specific product. Tape construction and fibre orientation are as important as width when selecting laminate material.

Check its data sheet before choosing the resin system. Tape is not equivalent to a tubular sleeve or any fabric cut into strips; compare the format with the planned geometry.

Applications and material selection

Twaron tapes are described for hull-to-deck joints in kayaks, paddleboards and personal watercraft. The flat black braid also covers this joint in sporting equipment. Compare width and construction with the area to be laminated: balanced and UD tapes do not distribute fibres in the same way.

For larger surfaces, browse aramid fabrics; for making tubes, use aramid tubular sleeves.
