What to consider when choosing

Choosing a prepreg for your process

There are products for visible finishes, part manufacture and mould surfaces. Compare the fibre, construction and resin system together. A cosmetic prepreg should not be chosen as a universal substitute for another system.

Confirm availability and lead time before planning the work. Check the product information for storage conditions, working life and curing process, together with the system's safety instructions.

Applications and material selection

For visible carbon, carbon prepregs include systems separating surface and bulk layers. For bodywork and prototype moulds, OPS75 and PSB describe different roles within an out-of-autoclave system. Glass prepregs offer other options for parts and surfaces. These systems are not interchangeable on the basis of areal weight alone.

In sport, FLAXPREG documents rackets, bicycle frames, skis and boards where damping matters. Compare flax prepregs by orientation and cycle. For general aramid parts browse aramid prepregs, distinguishing carbon hybrids.

Before buying, plan storage, cutting and curing equipment. The range includes epoxy and other resin types, such as PFA. Identify the complete system before scheduling manufacture.
