Cork cores for composites
Cork cores are incorporated into composite sandwich laminates. Catalogue references cover marine, automotive and construction applications, with sheet and roll formats for different geometries and laminate thicknesses.
What to consider when choosing
Cork in sheets or rolls
Thin laminates and curved surfaces
The roll format provides a thin, flexible core. Sheets offer other thickness and density combinations. This difference matters when preparing a curved part or defining the overall thickness; it should not be mistaken for identical performance across the range.
Processes using fibre and resin
Some references are specified for hand lay-up, vacuum consolidation and infusion. Suitability for other cycles is checked on the individual product, together with the laminate resin and fibres. For infusion, you can review vacuum consumables and equipment.
Choosing among sandwich cores
Cork belongs to a wider selection of composite cores. Choose the reference for the part design and manufacturing process, without automatically transferring properties from one density or format to another.
