Nonwoven cores for composites
Non-woven cores are used in composite laminates to add thickness and meet different manufacturing and finishing needs. The selection includes references for hand lay-up, infusion and RTM, as well as options focused on the part's surface appearance.
What to consider when choosing
Core, process and surface finish
Hand lay-up or closed moulding
Some cores are intended for open-mould impregnation; others have been developed for resin infusion or injection. This distinction is essential: behaviour during impregnation and consolidation depends on the material construction.
Surface finish and fibre print-through
The range includes cores and cosmetic layers designed to limit reinforcement-fibre print-through at the surface. They are a specific finishing choice, not a guarantee that every non-woven core produces the same result.
Preparing the material stack
Select the core together with the reinforcement fibres and process resin. For closed moulding, also review vacuum and infusion materials. The sandwich cores category lets you compare other constructions without confusing them with non-wovens.
