What to consider when choosing

Selecting the combination's construction

Depending on the product, a combination material may include fabric, glass fibre mat and an internal distribution layer. Compare layer composition and the stated process: these materials are not all intended for the same manufacturing method.

The product data sheet should confirm the resin and application. Do not choose solely by total areal weight, because materials of similar weight may have different constructions. Maintain that distinction when comparing glass fibre mat or glass fibre multiaxials.

Applications and material selection

Fabric and glass fibre mat combinations are described for large parts, marine work and, in certain references, wind-energy components. For closed moulding, Metycore and Vitrocore include inner layers aiding resin flow; SAERcore LEO covers complex-shaped interior components. These are different selection criteria.

To build the layers separately, compare glass fibre mat and multiaxial glass fibre materials.
