Choosing a carbon flat bar

The selection includes rectangular flat bars and versions with rounded edges. Products are described as pultruded, with a fibre orientation that must be considered in the design.

Check the data sheet before choosing by dimensions. A flat bar is not equivalent to a cut sheet or unimpregnated carbon tape; these are supply forms with different constructions and uses.

Applications and material selection

For a linear flat-section component, these bars are supplied cured with longitudinal fibres. Compare rectangular and rounded-edge variants against the seating area and intended joint. They are not material for forming a curve during lay-up.
