Polyester primers for model and substrate preparation, depending on the product. Find products intended for master models and a formulation for preparing substrates before polyester laminating.
Crystic Primecoat is used to coat timber, MDF and glass-fibre laminates before taking a mould. Duratec 707-002 is described for timber, foam and composite patterns and prototypes, with a surface that can be sanded and polished. For this work, select by substrate and the finish the mould must reproduce; mould and pattern preparation involves more than adhesion.
The flexible polyester primer has another purpose: improving adhesion of polyester laminates to cement, concrete or timber. It does not serve the same role as a surfacer for polishing a pattern. If the following system is epoxy, compare epoxy primers and each product's explicit compatibility, without inferring it from the family name alone.
