Multiaxial glass fibre reinforcement
Multiaxial glass fibre materials for laminate manufacture, with biaxial and quadriaxial options. Compare layer orientations and the manufacturing process specified for each product.
What to consider when choosing
Several fibre orientations in one material
The multiaxials in the catalogue combine layers of fibres oriented in different directions. This arrangement distinguishes them from conventional woven fabric and unidirectional material. Comparing total areal weight alone is not enough.
Descriptions cover hand lay-up, infusion and injection for specific products. Check the data sheet to select the resin and construction suited to the planned laminate, without changing the orientation specified for the part.
Applications and material selection
For gelcoated parts, these constructions combine laminate orientations with a carefully planned finish. Product information links reduced fibre print-through to the position within the layers: it does not mean placing multiaxials directly against the gelcoat. Compare biaxial, triaxial and quadriaxial constructions against the required directions.
For one orientation browse UD glass fibre material; for layers incorporating glass fibre mat, glass fibre combinations.
