Hello, the linen fabric to replace fiberglass in shipbuilding, wood-fiber, how is the equivalence of tensile or shear resistance? Thanks greetings.

Hello, logically the mechanical resistance of linen is much lower than fiberglass. In the technical sheets you can see values, for example of the tensile strength of 300 MPa, compared to more than 1000 MPa of any fiberglass. The Tensile Young's Modulus of glass is around 75 GPa, compared to 35 GPa for this flax. The advantage of linen lies in the damping capacity, acoustic properties, bio material and its aesthetic characteristics.
