Multipurpose cleaning solvent from SOCOMORE with controlled volatility and a mild odour, for cleaning equipment and preparing surfaces before applying resins, paints, adhesives or sealants. For professional use.
SOCOSOLV MP495 is an alternative to acetone for cleaning and surface preparation operations. Its controlled volatility balances cleaning performance and drying time. It has high solvent power for epoxy, polyurethane and other types of resin.
Key features
- Mild odour and controlled volatility.
- Non-corrosive to metals, including light alloys.
- Free from halogenated hydrocarbons.
- Flash point of 27 °C (ISO 13736). Precautions against flames and heat sources must still be observed.
Applications
- Cleaning equipment used to apply base resins and hardeners in epoxy or polyester systems.
- Surface preparation before applying resins, adhesives or paints.
- Degreasing during maintenance operations and degreasing of metallic materials and epoxy/carbon composites before painting.
Directions for use and compatibility
Use as supplied, undiluted and at room temperature, by immersion or with a cloth, brush or pad. Do not use on sensitive or transparent thermoplastics, such as PC and PMMA. Check compatibility with the material and suitability for the application beforehand.

Internal evaporation comparison
Indicative internal test conducted by Castro Composites, started on 20/10/2026 in O Porriño: comparison of two samples in cups over a period of less than 24 hours. No controlled measurements of temperature, humidity or ventilation are provided.
| Product | Initial mass | Mass loss | Loss as a percentage of initial mass |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acetone | 254 g | 55 g | 21.7 % |
| SOCOSOLV MP495 | 322 g | 16 g | 5.0 % |
In this observation, MP495 showed a lower relative mass loss, with a difference of 16.7 percentage points. This is not a standardised test or a guarantee of savings, consumption or behaviour under other conditions. It does not reproduce the recommended storage conditions: keep containers closed.
