Introduction

Crystic RTR 4010PA is a new, improved rapid tooling resin which incorporates better handling properties, lower viscosity, improved shrinkage control and is catalysed with standard MEKP catalyst.  RTR 4010PA is a thixotropic, filled, low profile resin for hand-lay mould making applications.
RTR 4010PA helps to achieve faster mould making and eliminates surface distortion, forming part of Scott Bader’s new mould making system, which also comprises of Crystic GC15PA and Crystic VE679PA skincoat.

Applications

Crystic RTR 4010PA is designed for hand-lay applications and must be allowed to attain a minimum workshop temperature of 18°C before use (20°C to 24°C is recommended). It should be mixed thoroughly prior to use and requires only the addition of MEKP catalyst to start the curing reaction. The recommended catalyst is Catalyst M (or Butanox® M50), which should be added at 1% into the resin and thoroughly dispersed. The recommended resin-to-glass ratio for chopped strand mat glass reinforcement is at least 2.5-to-1 by weight.
The design, complexity and size of the mould will determine optimum reinforcement levels and thickness. At least 3 layers of 450gsm chopped strand glass mat, or equivalent, is required and should be applied in a single operation to achieve sufficient cure and low shrink performance. The material will undergo a colour change becoming whiter as the curing reaction takes place.

Typical Properties

Geltime at 25°C with 1% Catalyst M: 25-34 min using Luperox K1S or ButanoxM50

HDT: 63°C (after 16hrs at 40°C post cure)

Tensile strength: 114 MPa (Glass content 28%, laminate made with 3 layers of 450gsm CSM; 16hrs at 40°C post cure)

Tensile Modulus: 8075 MPa (Glass content 28%, laminate made with 3 layers of 450gsm CSM; 16hrs at 40°C post cure)

Elongation at break: 2,0% (Glass content 28%, laminate made with 3 layers of 450gsm CSM; 16hrs at 40°C post cure)

Post Curing

Satisfactory laminates for many applications can be made from Crystic RTR 4010PA by curing at workshop temperature (20ºC). However, for optimum properties and long term performance, moulds made with RTR 4010PA should be post cured before being put into service.  The laminate should be allowed to cure for 24 hours at 20ºC and then oven cured for 16 hours at 40ºC.

ADR (DANGEROUS GOODS)

Some products will be considered dangerous goods (ADR) when their container exceed certain amounts. ADR products must be transported by special transport agencies, such as SCHENKER or TXT.

* The following products will be considered ADR (Dangerous Goods) when their container EXCEED the values shown in the table below. Products of equal or smaller size than those shown will not be considered ADR, so they may be transported also by SEUR and Envialia.

_____________________________________________________________

If you have selected a product whose container size is considered ADR and you choose SEUR or Correos EXPRESS as carrier, those ADR products will be transferred into smaller containers to not breach the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road. That is, if you order a 25 kg resin drum and you select SEUR or Correos Express as carrier because you need the products sooner, the resin will be supplied in 5 containers of 5 kg each and its catalyst will be supplied in 5 containers of 100 g.

In any case, drums bigger than 25 kg must be shipped by TXT or Schenker.

* Shippings to Portugal will be always carried by Torrestir
