Resoltech 1500 Infusion Structural Epoxy Resin for Tooling & Parts

Description

Resoltech 1500 / 1502 and 1500 / 1504 are very low viscosity epoxy infusion systems designed for manufacturing structural composite parts and moulds made of glass or carbon fibre. Their excellent wetting ability makes them suitable for infusion, RTM and RTM Light processes, with a service temperature of up to 130 °C.

The system offers two hardeners providing different reactivities depending on part size and processing needs:

• 1502: longer gel time, ideal for large or complex parts.
• 1504: faster curing, suitable for smaller moulds or components.

Both systems are compatible with the Resoltech gelcoat range for moulds and laminates up to 140 °C, and with the brand’s repair systems.

Main features

• 17 % biobased content in resin part.

• Low shrinkage and ambient temperature curing.

• TG up to 145 °C after full post-curing.

Mixing ratio

• 1500 / 1502 system: 100 / 22 (by weight)
• 1500 / 1504 system: 100 / 30 (by weight)

Curing and post-curing

A minimum post-curing of 8 h at 60 °C before demoulding is required. For optimum thermomechanical properties:

• 2 h at 60 °C + 1 h at 90 °C + 1 h at 120 °C + 2 h at 150 °C → TG ≈ 145 °C

Mechanical properties (neat resin)

• Flexural modulus: 3.7 – 3.8 GPa
• Flexural strength: 92 – 142 MPa
• Elongation: 2.5 % to 5 %
• Shore D hardness: 89 – 91

Viscosity and density

• Mix viscosity (23 °C): 250 – 300 mPa·s
• Mix density (23 °C): 1.06 – 1.07 g/cm³

Gel time (23 °C)

• 1500 / 1502: 10 h (70 mL sample)
• 1500 / 1504: 6 h 30 min (70 mL sample)

Health & Safety

Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. Wear nitrile gloves and protective goggles. Work in a well-ventilated area. Store in the original, closed container between 10 °C and 30 °C.
