Rectangular Carbon Fibre Strip with rounded edges manufactured by using the pultrusion technique in which the high-performance carbon fibres are all orientated parallel to the longitudinal axis (unidirectional) providing great resistance to traction and bending in the direction of the fibres.

Dimensions: 40 x 3 mm

Length: 1000 mm (1m)

This type of profile has a high specific mechanical resistance (related to its weight), lightness, rigidity, great resistance to fatigue and vibrations, resistance to oxidation and corrosion, low coefficient of thermal expansion and durability.

Pultrusion is a technique of continuous production of linear profiles with a constant section. This process has many similarities to extrusion, the main difference is in the feeding system: in extrusion the material is pushed through the matrix (mould), in pultrusion it is extracted from the matrix. This procedure does not allow variations in shape, sections or curves. Products that can be obtained by this process can have sections or thicknesses of up to approximately 15mm, with epoxy resins and up to 70mm with polyester resins.

Products made with this technology have excellent tensile strength characteristics due to the linear orientation of the fibres in the direction of axis of the profile; if it is also necessary to have a good transversal resistence, a woven fabric is used as a backing in specific quantities and weights.

Main Features

Mechanical Resistances according to standard UNI EN 13706-1-2-3 ISO527

  • Elastic module (E): 150Gpa
  • Elastic module x section (E A): 19.094 kN
  • Tensile strength > de 2.299 Mpa
  • Tensile strength in section: 276 kN

Carbon Fibre Properties

  • Number of filaments: 24K (24.000 filaments per strand)
  • Elastic module (E): 234 GPa
  • Tensile strength: 4.830 MPa
  • Density: 1,80 g/cm3

Other characteristics

  • Carbon fibre content by volume (Vf): 68%
  • Resin type: epoxi

Caution: Pultruded carbon fibre materials are ellectrically conductive. if the material has been packed, be careful when removing / unwinding the film as the material could be under tension.

In case of being machined (cutting, sanding, drilling...), it is recommended to wear protective masks, glasses and gloves.
