Resoltech 1080S is a novolac epoxy resin designed for the manufacture of high-performance structural laminates. It combines high stiffness, thermal resistance and excellent mechanical properties with room-temperature curing. Parts can be demoulded without post-curing. Maximum Tg of up to 110 °C, depending on the hardener and post-curing cycle.

Resoltech 1080S is a novolac epoxy resin designed for the manufacture of high-performance structural laminates. It combines high stiffness, thermal resistance and excellent mechanical properties with room-temperature curing.

The use of this resin makes it possible to reduce the amount of fibre reinforcement required, resulting in lighter, stiffer and more cost-effective parts. It is suitable for manufacturing composite structures and parts of any size by hand lay-up, infusion or injection moulding, using glass, carbon, aramid or basalt fibre reinforcements.

The mixing ratio must be followed exactly and varies depending on the hardener used.

Available hardeners: 1083 slow, 1084 medium and 1086 fast.

Reactivity at 23 °C

Gel time measured on a 70 ml mixture with a height of 4 cm:

  • 1080S/1083: 4 h 19 min
  • 1080S/1084: 2 h 30 min
  • 1080S/1086: 23 min

Gel time measured on a 1 mm thick film:

  • 1080S/1083: 9 h 35 min
  • 1080S/1084: 7 h 6 min
  • 1080S/1086: 2 h 45 min

Parts can be demoulded without post-curing. To obtain the maximum thermomechanical properties, the appropriate post-curing cycle is recommended.

  • Maximum Tg with 1083: 110 °C
  • Maximum Tg with 1084: 107 °C
  • Maximum Tg with 1086: 79 °C

Colour: colourless with a slightly yellowish tint.

IMPORTANT: the two components must be mixed in the exact specified ratio.

Mix the components thoroughly in a clean container, carefully scraping the sides and bottom. Then transfer the mixture to another clean container and continue stirring. Even when the products appear to be thoroughly mixed, unmixed material may remain on the sides or bottom of the container, which may prevent the resin from gelling correctly in certain areas.
